Fire Opal Necklace

This custom made necklace is based on the lyrics of a song about a voyage across the water where life is the ocean and love is the boat.

A gentleman asked me to make it for his wife to incorporate her birthstone as well as those of their children. Fire Opal and Garnets are woven into the design of solid silver waterdrops decorated with highlights in gold.

Free movement of the elements along the chain adds to the natural flow and makes it wonderful to touch and to wear. I'm told that the lady wears it all the time!

Finishing with a love heart and an anchor falling either side of the clasp, every last detail has been considered.

Garnet is the birthstone of those born in January. It is also the traditional stone of choice when celebrating the 2nd and 18th wedding anniversaries. The great brilliance of Garnet led many early explorers to carry a garnet as a talisman and protective stone as it was believed to light up the night and keep them safe from harm. It has also been known as a stone of commitment.

Opal is the birthstone of those born in October and the traditional stone of choice when celebrating the 14th wedding anniversary. The opal is thought to help one to recognise and feel one's creativity, providing inspiration and imagination to all situations; to bring one hope in the future and faith in the self.
