Peridot Silver Compass Pendant

A custom made compass in silver and 9K gold. A group of ladies commissioned me to make this unique silver compass pendant for one of their friends; a special birthday gift.

A peridot is surrounded by a Libretto design in silver and 9K gold on one side of this reversible compass pendant. A timeless jewellery creation, artfully incorporating an authentic, precision built compass.

The peridot originates from Zabargad Island, a small volcanic island in the Red Sea. From the early 2nd millennium B.C. this ancient stone was found to have been used in Egyptian jewellery. Often referred to as the evening emerald, the peridot holds its colour in twilight more tenderly than true emeralds. With its gentle glow, early lapidaries pronounced peridot a good talisman against terrors of the night.

Peridot is thought to emit a warm and friendly energy and to provide a shield around the body to protect it from outside influences. Peridot has also been considered to inspire happiness in the self, and delight in the nature of one's life.

As well as being the birthstone for those born in August, Peridot is the traditional stone of choice when celebrating the 16th wedding anniversary.
